Hello kids! It's storytime, with your friend, Deadpool!
Once upon a time, there once was a man named Wade Wilson. This guy was super cool and awesome and totally the best mercenary that ever was. He was well-liked by all his friends and co-workers and no one ever tried to stab him in the back and leave him for dead.
But then, disaster struck! Despite being a super-awesome dude, Wade had found an enemy that he was unable to kill no matter how many grenades and guns he used. That enemy was cancer! Luckily, the church had a program available to help out those with such unfortunate maladies. The program was supposed to help find some sort of weapon that could kill demons or some such nonsense, I didn't...I mean, Wade didn't pay all that much attention to it.
Nice save.
Thanks. Anyway, Wade died in the program, horribly disfigured and left dumped in a back alley somewhere for rats to gnaw on. The end. :D
That was the dumbest story I've ever heard. And clearly not true. And how did you even pronounce an emoticon?
It's true enough. Besides, stories are always better with a happy ending. I mean, it's not like it really matters.
-------------
Deadpool has very little memory of his life before waking up in a ramshackle apartment in the Viath Docks. He has pieced together from shards of memory that he used to be a mercenary named Wade Wilson, and that some experiment with the church made him the way he is. He seems to have super-human stamina and strength, as well as a healing ability that allows him to heal basically any wounds and even grow back body parts. However, it is a slow and painful process that usually leaves him weakened afterwards. He tends to ignore this though, as most of his combat style consists of throwing as much ordnance at the enemy as possible until it stops moving.
He is known as "The Merc with a Mouth" because he rarely shuts up and is constantly making jokes. Also, he seems to talk to himself a lot.
He isn't talking to himself, he's talking to me. It's just that no one else can hear what I say. Probably because he's completely insane.
Right, there is that too. Anyway, the truth of his background is that Deadpool is in fact a demon. The church had managed to capture a lesser demon and perform experiments on it. Their goal was to find a way to turn the demon into a weapon capable of hurting it's own kind and having it fight for humanity. However, the demon broke loose and attempted to escape, killing a soldier by the name of Wade Wilson in the fight. In the ensuing fight, the demon was destroyed and the project cancelled shortly afterwards.
The demon, however, was not as finished as the church thought. Instead, he projected his essence into the body of Wilson as a last ditch effort to stay alive. Unfortunately, this process robbed him of his memories and most of his powers. Now his mind is a swirling vortex containing both the memories of Wade Wilson and the demon Deadpool. And not even they know who the yellow words are.
I switched to a different shade of yellow...I think it works a little better. Let me know if I should try a different one still.
Also, I forgot to mention that I'm open to interacting with anyone. Deadpool is basically the same as he is in the comics, a merc for hire to anyone willing to pay. This means he tends to get caught up in larger plots and scenarios then he really knows is going on, and also tends to be the one left holding the bag when the shit hits the fan.
The new shade is definitely easier to read for me. Though, I think it's still worth trying out yellow text on a black highlight and seeing how that works.
